General Conference Fall 2017

Knowing that we were moving soon this GC was bittersweet. We had Grammy and Nana over and really enjoyed hearing the words of the prophet and apostles together.

Hurricane Harvey Cleanup

From 8/17/17-9/3/17 South East Texas was hit with the costliest Hurricane (Harvey), inflicting $125 billion in damages. It hit landfall in Rockport and Aransas Pass, TX and hovered over Houston for days causing catastrophic rainfall. There were 107 deaths in total.
All of the stakes in the area went down for several weekends in a row to help with the cleanup effort. The devastation was terrible to see. It was all so overwhelming and terribly sad to see all of these people with their homes completely destroyed. Despite the terribleness of the situation, there was a lot of hope and love. It was a humbling experience to be able to help clean up and talk with some of the people and just listen to their experience.
Tim and I alternated weekends and when I went down I traveled with Adalie and Jen Sikora.
We had a lot of fun together and were bone tired by the end of the day.

Fall Morning in Hemisfair Park

Since we'll be moving to Austin soon we're trying to get a few of our favorite places in. We decided to take advantage of a beautiful fall morning and spend it downtown at Hemisfair with Dad and Grammy.

She's been sucked into the world of Harry Potter lately so we just cart her around like this :)

Our House Is For Sale! :(

Since school has started Tim has been living in Austin during the week and coming home on the weekends. Suffice it to say we have not loved this living situation. So our house is going up for sale. Here it is!

We have loved this house so much and love our neighbors even more. William, Autumn and KC, Dawn and David, the Ullmans, the Yorks, Matthew and Weston, the Sandovals, and the McCown's -  we love you and will miss you so much!

S. Arrow of Light and Crossing Over & G receiving belt loops for Cub Camp

Samuel's very last official Pack Meeting. Since Sam has now turned 11 he's moved out of cub scouts and in to 11 year old scouts. Since his b-day is over the summer there aren't any pack meetings. So he came back for their first meeting in September to have receive his Arrow of Light and also do his crossing over ceremony.

First Day of School 2017-2018

First Day of School! First Day of School! It's been a great summer and this is a school year of big changes so we're excited/nervous for today...you'' find out why below...

Grant starting the year strong in 3rd Grade!

Sam starts 6th grade - 1st year of Middle School!
S at STEM Magnet school with his BFF's Harlon and Teancum
He absolutely loves this school! First time since 2nd that he's been happy to go to school each day.

Lillie starts 8th - her last year of middle school!

Isaac - super sad to be left behind :(

So Tim has been looking for a new job since April. We knew that we'd likely be leaving San Antonio but just decided to go slow and follow the promptings of the spirit. After interviewing all over the country and turning down some jobs that were great opportunities but just didn't feel right we accepted a job offer in Austin, TX. Super close to home! Unfortunately not close enough to stay in our house, schools, and ward that we love so much :(
Tim accepted the job offer while we were on vacation in Arkansas. Since it was such short notice before the start of school we decided to just go slow. We made a definite plan to start the school year here in SA. The same day these kiddos started school Tim started his job up in Austin at Hot Schedules. For now he is living in Austin M-Th and coming home Friday evening. We're getting the house ready to put on the market and hoping to move up to Austin before Thanksgiving to have time to get settled in before the holidays. Lots of changes! We know this school year will likely be especially tough having to switch schools mid-year. We are so excited for S to have at least a little bit of time at STEM. He has been so excited to go there and we feel it's going to be a completely different experience for him.
Good luck this year in school everyone!
